What a refreshing and affordable option in the Bishop area (but about 20 minutes south in Big Pine). Stayed 2 weekday nights in early March - low season. Clean, comfortable and with a very friendly, interesting and helpful owner onsite. A VERY nice change from the chains. For certain, we will be back on our next visit.

What a gem. Extremely clean. They even have disposable toothbrush and toothpaste. The gentleman that checked us treated us like a guest in his home and gave my son cookie and a basket of fruit. If your not just passing through they have a deck with a grill and in the back a station to clean the fish. The gentleman checking us in made this place a 10 out of 10. You dont find treatment like this from big corporate hotels.

As advertised, very clean and quite!! Stayed here the night before my big birthday day hike to Big Pines Lakes and it was perfect for the occasion. I absolutely adore PJ at the front office; such a sweet and delightful man who made our stay most epic with his kindness and hospitality!! PJ suggested places nearby, like, Copper Top BBQ and Keough's Hot Springs which were both excellent!! I will definitely be staying here again for my next hike around Big Pine Lakes. Also, do yourself and the motel a favor by booking directly with them.

Perfect stop on your way to lone pine. Clean, has a station to clean fish in the back, a deck with a grill. Extremely kind staff. They gave us fruit basket and my son cookies. They have a small basket with disposable toothbrushes and tpaste in case you forgot yours, extra blankets in the closet. Its a family owned small place that offers a friendly family like vibe ugh different than a big chain hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. I would stay again for sure.

We had a really great experience staying at the Starlight Motel. If you plan to do the Big Pines lake hike or need a stopover before heading to Mammoth, this is the place to stay. The owner, Mr. Praveen, is extremely professional and friendly. The room was very clean. We only stayed for a few hours since we had to start our hike early the next day, but the place was very quiet, had good Wi-Fi, and we were able to get a good night's sleep. We will definitely stay at this place on our next visit.

This place was the perfect 1/2 way point from LA on our way up to Lake Tahoe. We reserved this motel ahead of time based on the reviews, and it did not disappoint. The owner was extremely kind and welcoming with a sense of humor to make us feel right at home. No bells and whistles, but a hot shower and a comfortable king bed gave us the best nights sleep to get us back on the road in the morning. I highly recommend staying here if you are passing through!

Friendly owners. Room was clean, but smelled strong of cleaning chemicals. We had to open windows and door to air it out. Very tiny bathroom. Pet friendly, offered us towels or blanket for our dog to lay on. Convienient location.

We were looking for a place in Big Pine and pulled up all the reviews and found the Starlight motel. So glad we did. This is an awesome place to stay in a great location near the end of town. The host is phenomenal out of all the hotels and motels I’ve stayed. He provided the best service. Our room wasn’t completely ready so he popped us on the BBQ deck and gave us a couple of beers with a food basket while the room was finished up. He was always there when we needed him and always making sure the grounds look the best. The rooms were spacious with plenty of room to bring in your bags and not feel crowded in the room. Everything was really clean and everything worked noteworthy, but walls are made of bricks and so you cannot hear your neighbors the rooms are incredibly quiet however, along with the brick walls, you might have to go outside to make a cell phone call. If you’re in the Big Pine area this is the best hotel to stay at highly recommended wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Stopped here again and had a long chat with the owner and he reminded me about why I was there, good fishing. He has a Fish cleaning station on the backside which I’ve used multiple times. This is a great base camp to the Owens river Owens Canal, and big pine creek as well as lake in the mountains.

Booked a stay here at the last minute as I was travelling through the area. It was such a hidden gem! The family running it is delightful and while the building is older there was clear attention to updating it, cleanliness, and multiple small hospitable touches like a little basket of fruit and a comprehensive selection of toiletries. Well run small family owned businesses like this one deserve our money!

Hidden Gem with Exceptional Hospitality. We absolutely loved our stay at this cozy hotel tucked away in a quiet rural town. The place felt very secure and peaceful—perfect for a relaxing getaway. What truly made it stand out was the owner: incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. They gave us great recommendations and clear directions for things to do in the area, which made exploring the town so much more enjoyable. You can tell they really care about their guests. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a comfortable stay with a personal touch!
